Gold, wood, chocolate, cardboard, velvet—what do the materials of works of art mean to artists? What do the materials of works of art mean to you? Stop by for a sneak peek, available every half hour, into the Center’s innovative installation featuring artworks from the Dallas Museum of Art’s collections, artist demonstrations, and more. Space is limited; first come, first served.

community art project
11:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m., Fleischner Courtyard

Artist Brad Tucker will construct a collaborative art installation titled Kiosk. Visitors are invited to participate in making a large geodesic dome out of everyday materials and adorning the surfaces with personal messages. As the weekend progresses, the semi-spherical architectural structure will emerge as an information kiosk projecting a constellation of community voices and imagery.

Kids of all ages can express their creativity at the Target Creation Station. Art activities will be available for children to enjoy, along with a relaxation space where kids can unwind. Bullseye the Target dog will be on hand taking free photos with the children.

Afterwards, mingle with students in an open lab atmosphere, exploring the virtual world and viewing visual interpretations created by Inter.sect Art Collective, a group of artists making films with mobile phones that mix words, sound, image, and video.
