Discover a new art-making activity each month! Join us in the Tower Studio, where volunteers are on hand to help your family make unique art projects. All materials provided.
July 5–27
Explore how artist Gustave Courbet created works of art using layers of thick paint. Afterwards, come to the studio to create your own textural painting with paint and chalk.
August 2–31
Sara and Gerald Murphy loved to travel. Explore the exhibition Making It New: The Art and Style of Sara and Gerald Murphy and then come to the studio to create your own cut-out cubist collage based on your favorite vacation memories.
September 6–28
In the exhibition Materials & Meanings, see how Frank Gehry used an everyday material like cardboard to make an extraordinary chair. In the studio, use cardboard and your imagination to make everyday things you would find in your home.
Sketching in the Galleries for Kids
Every third Saturday with some exceptions, 1:00–3:00 p.m.
Families are invited to sketch from original works of art! Artist Solange Mariel will be present to give instruction if wanted. All supplies are provided.

Getting To Know . . . Monet
Claude Monet and his French impressionist pals are brought to life in this entertaining animated show. Learn about Monet’s life and paintings through a combination of great art and delightful, off-the-wall cartoons. (24 min.)

Dropping in on Picasso
Join reporter Puffer as he drops in on Pablo Picasso. Learn how Picasso’s art evolved from his Blue period to his Rose period to cubism and even sculpture. (20 min.)
September 6–28
Recycled, Re-seen: Folk Art from the Global Scrap Heap
This innovative and dynamic program follows artists working with recycled materials in five countries, providing innovative ideas for creating recycled art. Creativity with recycled materials spans global cultures. (35 min.)
Collection Connections
Sundays, 1:30–3:30 p.m.
Take an in-depth look at a different work of art each month through our Collection Connections. A trained volunteer will be in the galleries with engaging interactive materials for all ages to discover.
