C3 Artistic Encounters

Join us for C3 Artistic Encounters in the Center for Creative Connections (C3) to experience art in new ways! C3 Artistic Encounters are held in the Center for Creative Connections Art Studio or Tech Lab (unless otherwise noted). They are included in general admission but registration is required. Community Partner Response Installation Opening Celebration with the South Dallas Cultural Center with special demonstration by performer Michelle Gibson
Sunday, May 13, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

With installation artists Malik Dillard, Media; Michelle Gibson, Dance; Vicki Meek, Visual; Harold Steward, Theater; Ava Wilson, Poetry
This installation was designed so visitors may experience some spatial limitations—whether they be physical as you navigate the space or emotional as you experience the image and words in the space.


C3 Artistic Encounters with Agence 5970:
Acoustic Shadows—Transformations
Thursday, May 17, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
C3 Theater

Acoustic Shadows is an audiovisual immersive and interactive installation in C3. Join the cast and production team as they discuss the immersive qualities in the work and the use of choreography and lighting to interpret movement in space. They are interested in exposing the question of unity and identity of a work of art, as it integrates multiple individual talents into a single expression.

Think Creatively: Transformative Minds—Train of Thoughts
Thursday, June 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Artists, scientists, and inventors use creative thinking tools—how about you? Give your creativity a boost and discover the power to transform your imagination into a work of art. Join creativity expert Magdalena Grohman, Ph.D., and guest artist, Ava Wilson, Artistic Director of Soul Children's Theatre Company, for this workshop. Practice using creative thinking tools and have the chance to explore your new skills.

 

 

 

Tech Lab Workshops

The Tech Lab is a space in the Center for Creative Connections at the Dallas Museum of Art where technology and art meet. It is also a space where you can experiment with current technologies and create original work during special classes, workshops, and programs.
 

Urban Armor: Just for Tweens and Teens!

Meet. Relate. Investigate. Join us for a tweens and teens only workshop where we take a closer look at the Museum's collection and then have the chance to create original works of art using advanced techniques. Urban Armor is included in general admission to the Museum but registration is required. To register for workshops, e-mail Amanda Batson at abatson@DallasMuseumofArt.org or call 214-922-1311. 
 
Screen Printing Workshop with JC Bigornia 
Sunday, May 27, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Tech Lab, Center for Creative Connections (C3)

Join Museum educator and artist JC Bigornia in an interactive screen printing workshop for tweens and teens. Explore works of art in the Museum’s collection and learn basic screen printing techniques in a hands-on art-making activity.

Street Art Camp with Isaac Davies
Wednesday and Thursday, August 15 and 16, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m, $75 for DMA members and $100 for nonmembers

Discover the relationship between yourself and the space around you through this hands-on Street Art Camp with guest artist Isaac Davies. The camp is offered to teens ages 14-18. Participants will learn from the DMA's collection and receive personal instruction from a local street artist to inspire their work during this interactive camp. This is a paid workshop.
