Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art Friday, November 20, 6:00 p.m. to midnightEnjoy a night of theater, dance, and opera. Celebrate the new Dallas Arts District and the Museum’s exhibitions All the World’s a Stage and Performance/Art with an evening of opera performances, contemporary dance performances, Shakespeare on screen, tours, and family experiences. CONCERTS AND PERFORMANCESHappy Hour with Tre Versi 6:00–7:00 p.m., Atrium Enjoy selections from the famous operas of Verdi, Puccini, and others with Tre Versi. Performances in The Stage All the World’s a Stage exhibition, Level 1 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth performs A Muse Was Here: Musing on Artistic Inspiration in the Museum followed by a Q&A session with visitors. 11:00 p.m. Listen to the music of Leadbelly and other blues classics with Roger Boykin. Late Night Main Stage featuring UNT Opera 8:00 p.m., Atrium UNT Opera performs solos and duets from Le nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart. DJ in the Galleries 9:00-10:30 p.m., European Art Galleries, Level 2 DJ Mark Ridlen spins eclectic music as you stroll through the European galleries. Late Night After Hours with Conté de Loyo 10:00–11:00 p.m., Atrium Enjoy flamenco dancing with Conté de Loyo, inspired by John Singer Sargent's Study for "The Spanish Dancer." After the performance, join Conté de Loyo to learn the art of flamenco dancing.

Late Night Open Lab: Interactive Art 6:30-9:00 p.m., Tech Lab, Center for Creative Connections (C3) Meet student artists from the University of North Texas who use technology to create art, and experience their artworks in the Tech Lab and in the C3 Community Partner Response Installation. Materials & Meanings Remix 8:30 p.m., C3 Theater Join VJ Anomolee in the C3 Theater as he mixes photos, videos, and sound for a dynamic performance featuring visitors’ experiences as well as works of art in the Materials & Meanings exhibition and the Museum's collections. Showdown at the Materials Bar 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., C3 With a spin of the Inspiration Wheel and a few minutes on the clock, compete against each other to determine who is most creative under pressure. Late Night Art Bytes 9:30-10:30 p.m., Tech Lab, C3 Tech-savvy creators from the University of North Texas share their digital works with peers and the community.
All the World's a Stage DIY Figure Design Contest 9:30-11:00 p.m., Art Studio, C3 Teens can create their own vinyl figure design inspired by the exhibitions! Sketch from works of art in the galleries and then make a winning design. Prizes will go to the top three entries. The winner receives a Kidrobot Munny© DIY figure. Contest rules apply; participation limited to the first thirty individuals. Late Night Open Mic 10:30–11:30 p.m., C3 Theater Hear Dallas's hottest poets or share some of your own verses. Hosted by Tisha Crear of Reciprocity. Readings may contain adult themes and language. Spoken word performances only; no instruments allowed.
FILMSFan Favorites: Shakespeare on Screen Much Ado About Nothing (1993) 9:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium DMA Facebook fans and Twitter followers voted on their favorite film adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays and chose Much Ado About Nothing. Kenneth Branagh directs and stars in this comedic portrayal of courtship and romance in the Italian countryside, which also features Emma Thompson and Denzel Washington. TOURS & LECTURESLecture: State of the Arts 7:00 p.m., Horchow Auditorium Join Jeff Whittington, KERA host and producer, for conversations exploring the creative process and the nature of performance. In this lecture series, Dallas’s key artistic leaders will discuss the future of the city’s cultural landscape and what lies ahead for the nation’s largest urban arts district. This evening's lecture features Ann Williams, Founder/Artistic Director of Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and Veletta Forsythe Lill, Executive Director of the Dallas Arts District. Tour: Narratives in Modern and Contemporary Art 9:00 p.m., Meet at the Flora Street Visitor Services Desk Examine the work of provocative modern and contemporary artists, including Tom Orr and Frances Bagley’s installation in Performance/Art, with Sharisse Butler, Manager of Visitor Studies and Evaluation. Tour: Rebels with a Cause: Selections from "All the World’s a Stage" 10:00 p.m., Meet at the main Visitor Services Desk Join DMA intern Stacie Jackson, to explore All the World’s a Stage and the innovative ways that the impressionists portrayed performances.
FAMILY EXPERIENCESMaterials & Me 6:00–7:30 p.m., Arturo’s Nest, C3 Just for 2-4 year olds! Investigate materials artists use and then look at a work of art in the galleries. Late Night Creations 6:00–9:00 p.m., Art Studio, C3 Learn about the types of places where performances happen and become inspired by backdrops, curtains, and stage scenery in All the World’s a Stage and Performance/Art. After visiting the exhibitions, come to the studio and make your own miniature stage set. Yoga for Kids! 6:30–7:00 p.m., C3 Join our resident yogini, Michelle Mock, for meditation, relaxation, and some very pretzel-like poses. Bedtime Stories with Arturo 7:30 p.m., C3 Theater Kids, wear your pajamas and bring your pillows to hear Bedtime Stories with Arturo, told by our award-winning storyteller, Ann Marie Newman.
