20th Anniversary Silver SupperFriday, January 27, 2012 Chaired by Peggy Sewell The 20th Anniversary Silver Supper is an unparalleled event for more than one hundred guests that displays the Museum's silver treasures. Celebrating the 20th anniversary, this year's event is a special tribute to The Great Makers of American Silver. The dinner will raise funds for the Dallas Museum of Art's Decorative Arts Acquisition Endowment Fund. Since 1987, after the Museum received a substantial gift of English and Irish silver from the Hoblitzelle Foundation, the Silver Supper has raised more than $1 million. Esther and Karl Hoblitzelle were legendary collectors from the 1930s through the 1950s and used much of what they collected for entertaining. The idea evolved to stage a dinner in the tradition of the Hoblitzelle parties to build enthusiasm among patrons and increase acquisition funds in the area of decorative arts. Today, the Dallas Museum of Art has the most comprehensive 19th- and 20th-century American silver collection of its kind in the world.
