The Dallas Museum of Art League is the principal volunteer support organization for the Museum. As a League member, you will enjoy a variety of special educational and social programs throughout the year, from art lectures and luncheons to day trips and visits to noted private collections in the community. You will also have the opportunity to meet and volunteer alongside League members at the Museum or on special projects such as the Floral Design Committee, and our annual spring fundraiser, Art in Bloom. League membership is available to all Museum members through an additional membership payment. The two categories of League membership are: Regular membership $50 DMA LEAGUE ACTIVITIES Floral Committee The League sponsors a committee of sixty women who create fresh flowers within the Museum on a weekly basis. We have five teams, each with one captain or two co-captains. Flower arrangements are created every Monday and Thursday. If you took a stroll through the Museum, you will see our work first in the Museum Store and then on a table accenting the European Painting and Sculpture galleries on the Level 2. The third arrangement is displayed on a table outside the Director’s office. The fourth one is placed near the receptionists’ desk on Level M1. DMA LEAGUE EVENTS “The Lights and Lens of West Texas” Wednesday, November 4 – Saturday, November 7, 2009 This is a unique opportunity to experience the art in Marfa, the adventure and beauty of West Texas, as well as a three day hands on digital photography workshop. Our home for 3 nights will be at the luxurious Cibolo Creek Ranch near Marfa and the Big Bend National Park. Cibolo Creek Ranch was founded in the 1800’s by an early cattle baron and today is listed in the US National Register of Historic Places. Please visit www.cibolocreekranch.com for more information. For our day visit to Marfa, we will tour the Chinati Foundation, including Donald Judd’s private residence and studio, and visit galleries and art spaces such as Ballroom Marfa. Weather permitting, we will encounter the mysterious Marfa Lights. The next day we will travel to Big Bend National Park to photograph the Chisos Basin area where we will walk the short Window View Trail. We will also travel the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive and view the Santa Elena Canyon. Teresa Radifi, professional photographer and Professor of Digital Photography at SMU Continuing Education, and Ric martin, Professor of Photoshop at SMU Continuing Education, will conduct a hands on photography workshop appropriate for all levels of digital photography experience. Airfare is not included, but recommended flights are Southwest flight #3863 from Love Field to Midland airport on November 4 @ 8:00 a.m. and Southwest flight #1901 @ 4:55 p.m. on November 7th from Midland Airport to Love Field.
