Go van Gogh® Outreach Programs (Grades 1–6 Only)
Bring the Dallas Museum of Art to your classroom!
Go van Gogh offers art programs free of charge. Museum volunteers visit your classroom for an interactive presentation featuring images of artworks from the Museum and a hands-on art activity. Participating students receive a pass that provides free admission to the Dallas Museum of Art for the student’s family!
• Only available to public and private schools within Dallas city limits.
• Available September 16, 2008–May 15, 2009.
• Minimum of fifteen students per classroom; maximum of thirty students per classroom.
• Only one program topic may be scheduled on a single day. Classes containing more than one grade are encouraged to pick the program for the younger grade.
• Teachers must be present during the presentation.
One-Hour Programs
The following programs are offered at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Requests for one to two classrooms may be scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday; requests for three to eight classrooms may be scheduled Tuesday through Friday.
These programs last one hour; please make sure class changes and lunch schedules will not conflict with your one-hour program.
Me and My World Recommended for 1st grade

Searching for Faces Recommended for 2nd grade
Look for clues—including faces, clothing, and gestures—that tell us about figures in works of art.
Stories in Art Recommended for 3rd grade
Discover and create stories by looking closely at people, places, and other details in works of art that tell its story.
Arts of Africa Recommended for 1st–3rd grade
Search for wild animals as you explore the art of sub-Saharan Africa.
Art of the Lone Star State Recommended for 4th grade
Look closely at images of Texas—from the countryside to the big city—that reveal our state and local history.

Creative Connections Go van Gogh Programs
Amp up your Go van Gogh experience with one of our ninety-minute programs! Embark on a creative adventure and play the role of problem solver, inventor, and storyteller as you experiment with a variety of fun materials. Discover how artists take on these very same roles as part of their creative process.
Each program includes specially designed pre-visit and post-visit activities, as well as opportunities for creative writing, drawing, and imaginative constructions. Materials and instructions for pre-visit activities will be delivered to teachers at their school address. Pre-visit activities must occur during the week preceding the scheduled program.
The following programs are offered between 9:00 a.m. and noon, Tuesday through Friday.
Programs last ninety minutes; please make sure class changes and lunch schedules will not conflict with your ninety-minute program.
Creative Connections: Imaginary Worlds
Recommended for 1st–3rd grade. Look at the world around you in new ways, and use your imagination to create your own whimsical world.
Creative Connections: Ordinary → Extraordinary
Recommended for 1st–6th grade. Describe, sketch, and experiment with everyday objects to investigate their diverse characteristics. Then, construct something extraordinary out of these ordinary materials.
Creative Connections: Creative Transformers
Recommended for 3rd–6th grade. Flex your listening and vocabulary skills and spark the imagination as you transform ideas and words into a two-dimensional drawing and then into a three-dimensional sculpture.
Creative Connections: Storytelling
Recommended for 3rd–6th grade. Create a visual story with multiple meanings by combining a personal photo, a sketch, text, and objects collected by the students.

Scheduling Go van Gogh® Outreach Programs
Step 1 Request your program as early as possible! We begin accepting requests for the 2008–2009 school year on August 1, 2008; availability is limited and openings are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be aware of holidays, testing dates, class change times, and lunch schedules when requesting your program.
Step 2 Submit the 2008–2009 Go van Gogh Request Form at least six weeks before your first requested program date. Request forms can be submitted online or by mail; outreach programs cannot be scheduled by phone.
Step 3 You will receive e-mail confirmation of your scheduled date and time within approximately ten business days of submitting an online request. Please note, if submitting the request form by mail you will receive confirmation by mail approximately four weeks after we receive your request. If none of your requested dates are available, you will be contacted by e-mail or phone.
Step 4 Review your confirmation letter and prepare your students for their program.
